- How do I know if I am losing hair?
On average, the adult head sheds between 40 to 100 strands
of hair per day. This is perfectly normal.
You will know
if you are losing hair when your hair starts becoming thinner
and shorter, or when you are
able to see more of your scalp than you used to. If this
is not treated immediately, in some cases, true baldness
occurs.
- There are many brands available in the market
that claim to have clinical tests too. What is the difference?
All 40 of Foltène’s clinical trials
have been well documented from 1980. Trials
were also done
in various countries such as France, Spain,
Italy and many others according to international
standards.
Click here for a detailed list of when and where the
clinical tests were conducted.
- Why is there a different
treatment for men and women?
The male and female scalp is different, therefore the
causes of balding and hair loss are also usually different.
Hair
loss in men is usually hereditary, whereas hair loss
in women is usually reactional.
Therefore, different treatments
are required to treat hair loss in men and women.
- How often do I use Foltène hair
products?
For the shampoo, its mild formulation makes
the shampoo suitable for daily use.
For the treatment, apply the treatment once a day or
once every alternate day before or after you wash your
hair for the initial two months of the treatment phase
and eventually reduce to thrice a week for the third
month during the maintenance phase.
- How do I apply Foltène hair
care products?
For the shampoo, use as you would with a normal hair
shampoo.
For the treatment, it comes in a specially
designed package that assures the correct preservation
of the
ingredients. Prior to use, simply press the
dosage cap that will release the powder into
the solution and the
mixture will be ready for application

Gently
massage for 3 to 4 minutes to aid penetration
of the active ingredients.
Do not rinse out treatment after application.
If the treatment
is applied on damp hair after shampoo, proceed
with drying of the hair by avoiding exposure
to high temperatures.
- Why does hair loss
increase, instead of stopping or decreasing with
the first few
treatments of Foltène?
The application of Foltène
and subsequent massage which allows Foltène
to penetrate the scalp causes the immediate
loss of some hair
in some
cases. This is
because the hair follicles of these hair are
already dead and would fall over a period of
time.
The loss, however,
increases the circulation of the bulb, which
would improve the absorption of the treatment.
In any event, the hair loss you experience
will stop
with extended use of the product.
- Will there be any allergy
caused by Foltène
products?
The Foltène range of treatment products
does not penetrate the tissues surrounding
the follicles
and is
proven to have no side effects such as flaking
skin. This also means that our products will
not cause
allergies.
- I
experience a scalp turning red / warm tingling
sensation after applying the Foltène
treatment; does this indicate an allergic reaction?
Should
I stop
the treatment?
The redness is due to the action of substances
which increases the circulation, favouring
the absorption
of Tricosaccaride®. Consequently, it
is a totally natural reaction and not an
indication
of intolerance
or allergy
unless you have irritated scalp. The redness
should
disappear within a few minutes.
However, reactions to Foltène
treatment may differ from person to person.
If the problem persists, consult
your doctor immediately.
- If I see results, do I stop using
the treatment?
The treatment should be repeated at least
twice a year, at 3-month intervals. Due to
rigourous
tests
by Foltène
for perfect tolerability, the Foltène
hair care range allows for use over long
periods.
After the initial
treatment phase, you would go into the
maintenance phase, where only 2-3 bottles
of treatment
are needed a week for another 3 months. Due
to the treat & cure
process of Foltène, a short break
is possible in between. For best results,
it is
recommended
that you continue on the treatment regularly.
- Can I style my hair or use the hair
dryer after applying the treatment?
For usage of styling products or hairdryer,
apply only after 10 minutes after use of
treatment to ensure full
absorption of treatment.
- Where else can I purchase
Foltène products?

City, John Little Specialist Centre and selected
Guardian Pharmacy outlets from June.
